About
Wests Illawarra Cricket Club is a local sporting club based in the Western Suburbs of Wollongong that strives to foster junior talent, steeped in history winning senior, junior, and club championships throughout its successful history.

'Wests' History
Wests Illawarra Cricket Club, as it is known today, was founded by a simple re-naming of the then Coniston Cricket Club at the Annual General Meeting in 1949/50.
For many years, the foundation name of 'Western Suburbs Cricket Club' has remained in place representing (at the time) all the new surrounding suburbs in which it’s members predominately resided.

In more recent times, 'Illawarra' has progressively become part of the name identifying the Club to a region within New South Wales for both incorporation and sponsorship.
To the locals, the Club is more commonly known as 'Wests' or 'The Devils', which is its emblem. The club colours are navy and red.
The Devils Tradition
Wests Illawarra Cricket Club has a proud record. It has been innovative and successful in its administration, with a number of its administrators providing excellent service over the years, not only to the Club, but also to the Illawarra District Cricket Association. The Club brands its culture as 'Club first, Team second, Individual third'.
Since its inception, it has been an active and positive leader in the development and fostering of young talent in the game at both Club and District levels.

On-field performances of both senior and junior grades have been very creditable, resulting in the Club winning many premierships, titles and Club Championships.

The Club’s player development policies employed over the years have resulted in many representatives being chosen in District, Country, State and National squads in the various representative levels, while a number have progressed successfully to the Sydney competition and State Cricket.

Wests embraces diversity in all areas (gender, age, ethnicity, all abilities, religion, and sexual orientation) and is committed to providing a safe environment for children. All committee members and coaches provide a ‘Working with Children's Check’ which are current, validated and checked.
